WINTER IS COMING: SO SENIOR PET SEMINARS ARE BACK!
29 June, 2015
JULY IS SENIOR PET MONTH!

Heading into winter, we often start to notice changes with our older pets. Some might be less active or sleep more. Others might show changes in eating, drinking or toileting habits.
This month, Toowong Family Vet will be holding its Senior Pet Seminars to help families with senior pets to pick up on the signs of certain health conditions and to learn what can be done to help. The seminars are also great for families with younger pets who want to know how to prevent or reduce the effects of certain age-related illnesses before they become advanced.

SENIOR PET SEMINAR
Wednesday June 17th 7pm-9pm
Join Dr Kirsty Fridemanis BVSc for this informative and interactive presentation on how to keep your pet healthier for longer. All questions encouraged.
Cost - $10 - Redeemed as a gift voucher* on the night to be spent on any products or services at Toowong Family Vet
FREE sample bags on the night!
(*Valid for one month. Not redeemable for cash)

DID YOU KNOW THAT BOTH DOGS AND CATS CAN SUFFER FROM ARTHRITIS?

Signs your dog could have arthritis:
- Difficulty rising or leaning weight forward
- Starting to tire easily on walks
- Reluctance to climb up and down stairs
- Appearing stiff in the legs, especially after resting
- Showing lameness or limping

Signs your cat could have arthritis:
- No longer jumping up on furniture
- Less interaction with the family
- Spending less time grooming
- Often missing the litter tray
- Becoming grumpy

If you have noticed any of these signs in your dog or cat, please call Toowong Family Vet for one of our friendly nurses to discuss diets and joint supplements that might help your pet OR book an appointment with Dr Kirsty or Dr Tegan to discuss medications to improve your pet’s quality of life.

PET DENTAL PROMOTION AT TOOWONG FAMILY VET!

Two weeks only
Finishes on March 6th, 2015
Very limited places
Bookings are essential

Have you noticed any of these signs in your pet?

- Bad breath (Halitosis)
- Changes in eating habits or food preferences
- Salivation or excessive lip-smacking/licking
- Obvious ‘build up’ on tooth surface (plaque/calculus)
- Damaged/fractured/worn teeth
- Withdrawn or subdued behaviour
- Self-trauma to the face
- Red and/or bleeding gums (Gingivitis)
- Gingival (gum) recession and/or root exposure

All of these can mean that your pet is in need of a dental. If your pet has not had a proper dental check, is overdue for their routine dental check, or perhaps you’ve had to delay booking in their dental, take advantage of our two week dental promotion and SAVE $50.00 on ALL dental procedures carried out by March 6th, 2015.*

All patients go home with a Dental Goodie Pack which includes:

- A bag of Dental Biscuits (Hills t/d or Royal Canin Dental)
- Finger brush (toothbrush)
- Toothpaste
- Greenie dental chew

to help keep those pearly whites shining long after their dental is over! (Valued at over $45.00)

If you are unsure if your pet needs dental attention, we also offer FREE DENTAL CHECKS for dogs and cats! Just call and make a time to see Dr Kirsty or Dr Tegan and have your pets’ teeth assessed. While some pets may only need a bit of extra home care, others require a full dental scale and prophylaxis (clean and polish) carried out. There is a direct link between dental health and renal (kidney) and heart health, and why we always recommend dental procedures to be carried out as soon as possible.

SANTA PAWS IS COMING TO TOWN!
7 November, 2014

Has your pet been naughty or nice this year? Don't even worry about answering that... Naughty, nice, cute, little, huge, hairy, lanky, big-eared, round-bodied - it doesn't matter! Santa Paws loves you all!

December 6th marks the special day your pet can come along and get a pet pawtrait with Santa Paws himself at Toowong Family Vet! Santa loves cats, dogs, mice, guinea pigs, birds - whoever or whatever your special friend is - all animals are welcome! After all, it is Christmas time and don't they ALL deserve a little something special?

Santa Paws Pet Pawtraits are being held at the clinic on December 6th, 2014 between 9:00am and 1:00pm.
Calls of interest are welcome, bookings aren't necessary but should you want a particular time - we can book that space for you! If you're happy to rock on up on the day, wait your turn (and have some cuddles and festive treats while you do so!) - FANTASTIC! It will also be a great oppotunity to meet the other furry friends in the area!

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

OPTION ONE
COST: $25.00 per sitting (multiple pets are welcome! Allow $5.00 extra per pet)
BEST photo in Christmas Themed Photo Frame
Two extra photos printed
Postage (should you require it)

OR

OPTION TWO
COST: $40.00 per sitting (multiple pets are welcome! Allow $5 extra per pet)
TWO BEST photos in Christmas Themed Photo Frames
Two extra photos printed
All images (that means ANY and ALL photos taken - well ones that look good anyway!) burned to disc at full-res for printing as you so choose!
Postage (should you require it)

IMPAWTANT INFORMATION:

*Allow 2-3 weeks for editing, assembly and/or postage (all photos will be ready by December 24th, 2014)
*All Santa Paws Pet Pawtraits will be uploaded to our Website, Facebook and/or Instagram for future viewing!
*Your pet may feature in next years Santa Paws Promo (as these little babies do in this year's!)
*Allow approximately 10 minutes per Santa Paws Sitting (depending on number of pets per family) to ensure we get the best photos possible of your pets (Remember: they do say "Never work with children or animals". We disagree, but find you just need a little more time...)
*ALL dogs MUST be on leads, and ALL cats MUST be in carriers (or secure). Any pocket pets are advised to be in a cage/carrier also. (Cats and pocket pets having photos will have the area to themselves, without other animals around so as to not be scared/anxious/in harm's way). We will not put the safety of any of our pet attendees at risk. Please make sure you adhere to these simple rules.

We'd LOVE to have as many festive furries there as pawsible, as last year was just soooo much fun - for everyone involved! We will continue taking Pet Pawtraits until the very last pet has had their fun. If you'd like to know more, or have any questions, just phone the clinic on (07) 3613 9644.
