VOTE FOR NORMAN: Dermcare Clinic Cat of the Year 2016
27 June, 2016

2015 was a magical year. A year that saw the birth of a country-wide competition: the Dermcare Clinic Cat of the Year. It was also the year that saw our own Norman crowned Queensland's Clinic Cat of the Year, and also place fourth nationally.

CCOTY 2015, commonly referred to by historians and cat-lovers alike, as "The Cat Fight of the Century," with cats across the land fighting tooth and nail to secure their place upon the throne and take home their crown. Even better than all things shiny and bejewelled, to have their already self-known amazingness and beauty confirmed by poll - by public opinion - was the ultimate prize.

While Norman was happy to be state champion and finish in the top four in the country, he spiralled into a deep depression having not taken the position of the Australia's 'top dog' - we mean, cat... He saw the loss as the ultimate low blow - so low, it was way below the collar.

Norman ate. And ate. If he was sad, he would eat. If he was hungry, he would turn hangry  - and in his hunger-driven rage - bite us and become destructive. Knocking things off desks or pushing items out of cupboards. Our poor jade plant sadly did not survive the months following Norman's public loss, and no number of pats or words of encouragement could make him see sense. Each night he cried his salty kitty cat tears. His pussycat pillow, tear-soaked and salt stained, a reminder of 'what could have been' - all that was so close, yet so so far...

Then. *CLICK*. Like a switch, he changed. We did not know why, we couldn't figure how how, but our Norman was a changed man. Then, we saw the email....

"REGISTER FOR DERMCARE CLINIC CAT OF THE YEAR 2016"

Oh. No.

Not again.

Alas, he has entered. Despite our concerns and our worry for what another loss may do to him. He's hungry again, but this time, it's for the National Title.

So, please. Please. For us - VOTE FOR NORMAN.
For our fingers and for our sanity - VOTE FOR NORMAN.

In haste and high hopes,

Kirsty, Tegan, Tahlia, Marie and Cliodhna
Norman's Servants

HUMAN FOOD "NO-NO's" - CATS
23 March, 2016

With Easter just around the corner, Vets see a dramatic increase in chocolate ingestion and subsequent toxicity. If your pet eats chocolate over Easter - or any time! - please always seek immediate veterinary attention.

To help make things as easy as possible for pet parents to make the right decisions in both what they feed their pets, what they choose for treats, and how to safely store any items that can cause harm to our furriest of family members, we have created the Toowong Family Vet "Please Don't Feed Me" Charts. We have one for both dogs and cats, so please have a look through, save to your phone or computer to keep on hand for easy access and help keep your four legged friends as safe and happy as possible!

Our Opening Hours over the Easter Break are as follows:

Thursday - March 24th - 7:00am to 7:00pm
Friday (Easter Friday) - March 25th - CLOSED

Sunday (Easter Sunday) - March 27th - CLOSED
Monday (Easter Monday) - March 28th - CLOSED

HO HO HO - It's Santa Paws Time!
16 November, 2015

WHAT TIME IS IT?

SANTA PAWS TIME!

Once again, the time has come for Santa Paws to jump in his sleigh and bestow hearty hugs and tasty treats upon all the furry family members across the globe. Luckily for us, Santa Paws has cleared his schedule for a WHOLE day so that he can pay special attention to the Toowong Family Vet pets!

Sunday December 6th marks the special day your pet can come along and get a pet pawtrait with Santa Paws himself at Toowong Family Vet! Due to increasing popularity with each Santa Paws we hold, we have opted to open the clinic on Sunday (for Santa Paws Pawtraits only) so that we can focus purely on Santa and his pet pals, and so that the clinic can operate as usual on the Saturday for those animals requiring veterinary attention. So, why not come down to our first ever Sunday Santa Paws - the big guy himself has requested the attendance of all animals - big and small - to join in the festive festivities (his words, not ours hehe).

Santa Paws Pet Pawtraits are being held at the clinic on December 6th, 2014 between 9:00am and 1:00pm.
Calls of interest are welcome, bookings aren't necessary but we recommend making one to minimise wait time for you and your pet. Alternatively, if you're happy to wait your turn and meet and greet the other pets and pet parents in the area, we say go for it! There will be some light refreshments for you, and yummy treats for our poochy and pussycat pals.

Join us for our "Yappy Christmeows!" clinic brunch on the day! There will be light refreshments, snack and goodies for all. Get to know your TFV neighbours and have a jolly good time while you do so!

*ALL dogs MUST be on leads, and ALL cats MUST be in carriers (or secure). Any pocket pets are advised to be in a cage/carrier also. (Cats and pocket pets having photos will have the area to themselves, with minimal animals around so as to not be scared/anxious/in harm's way). We will not put the safety of any of our pet attendees at risk. All that we ask of you is to adhere to these simple rules
*Clinic is not open for ANY veterinary services, or sale of food/over the counter products. If there are pet christmas hampers available for purchase, this however is allowed

The more the merrier we all say, and we hope to see each and every one of you there! Each year gets busier and busier, but it also gets more and more fun! We will continue taking Pet Pawtraits until the very last pet has had their turn. If you'd like to know more, or have any questions, just phone the clinic on (07) 3613 9644.
